This is a very nice British Colonial Infantry Officers Sword (1845 Pattern Sword) manufactured around 1850. This Victorian era infantry officer's sword features a single fullered etched blade and beautiful gothic style hilt in gilt brass, now faded. The grip is sharkskin over wood, which does show significant wear. This was a sword that saw long service and use. The blade at the base is marked PROVED in a brass disc
