His college years were interrupted by the Second World War, where he served in the Army Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant Bombardier in the 8th Air Force, 92 Bombardment Group, 327th Bomb Squadron flying aboard a B 17 Flying Fortress. He flew an astounding 45
