This hand carved wooden Cherub dates back to roughly the 18th century, possibly earlier. This was more than likely in the Captain's Cabin of the H. M. S. Royal George at the time of her foundering on August 29, 1782. In the following months, Charles Spalding, while using a diving bell of his own design, recovered many items from the Royal George.
