Polyphemus Moth Butterfly daughter of the LadonThe Polyphemus moth, scientifically known as Antheraea polyphemus, is a well known species native to North America and a member of the Saturniidae family, known for its impressive silk production. One of its most notable features is the striking purple eyespots on its hindwings, giving it its name from the Greek myth of the cyclops Polyphemus. This specimen is carefully preserved and presented in a 9" x 9" frame. *Each of my framed shadow boxes are
